It's a shame how greedy Beirutis have become.
And what's even more shameful is that they are demolishing and erasing some of their history.
Its been a couple of months since i saw the perspectives of the Verdun tower, which i never understood where its actual site was - and maybe that was actually the original plan so as not to draw attention before the demolition - and just last week on my way to gym, did i notice that the old architectural house (that i personally even as an architect just adored how simple and neat and misplaced it looked between all those modern towers in the region) kind of a surreal experience, was demolished...
the site was surrounded, and it was as if it happened overnight. No time to discuss, no one to ask !
where does the municipality stand from this ? our ministry of culture ? or any responsible ?
it's also a shame that it had to be replaced by a building that does not actually show any architectural value !
