Meet Lebanese Architectural Prostitute: Miss LEED

So it seems like it's been a while since we have been living the "Sustainability" as a trend in architecture.
It's nothing new to be quite honest, if you check out roman baths. It has always existed in most vernacular architecture in different regions. But somehow , due to globalization , and god bless marketing skills deriving from a mass american culture, we have been swept by a wave of sustainability requirements in the consultancy firms in Beirut & the Arab World.
Don't get me wrong here again, I'm not criticizing any reasonable sustainable approaches, but somehow paying for an organization that decided to market itself as the source of sustainability, in a country that rejected the global warming treaty on Bush's days, somehow reminds me of people who pay for sex (isn't that a form of prostitution?)
It is prostitution of the architecture at its utmost, but with an official structure and a legal form.
But what's mostly bothering me nowadays, is lebanese developers, that mostly try to ride the wave of trend, and not those that are really keen on preserving beirut's heritage, nor it's architecture, but simply appeal to a public that shallowly considers whats' globally trendy as a must have, must consume culture.
From Verdun Heights, to Rive Gauche (recently launched in Sin el fil) which , i'll be covering soon, u might wanna notice that the ad boards have changed containing a green symbol (USGBC LEED).
it never specifies the target of the developer (what kind of Leed certificate are u aiming @?), cause it's not really a necessity to have a target to start with, u just need to sign your project with LEED to appeal to a public that might think sustainability restricts itself on designing some bicycle racks in a building to get some points, in a city that is not even equipped for pedestrians.
